Over the past two and a half years UNMAS #Somalia delivered #EORE sessions to nearly 9,000 people, including more than 7,000 children in Gedo region. As a result, the communities were able to safely identify and report a total of 49 contaminated areas.

Since 2023, UNMAS #Somalia ensured the safety and security of the civilian population in the north-western parts of Mogadishu by facilitating 370 #EORE sessions benefiting 2989 people, 53% of which were children, and verifying 22,500 square meters of suspected hazardous areas.

Following a post project survey conducted by UNMAS #Ethiopia Implementing Partner Ethio-Professionals' Security Solutions to measure the impact of #EORE messaging in Tigray and Afar, 85% of respondents indicated that EORE elevated their awareness towards explosive remnants of war

UNMAS #Ethiopia , joined by the Ethiopian Mine Action Office #EMAO , attended the 27th National Directors Meeting in #Geneva from 29 April to 1 May 2024, discussing and exchanging information on important issues faced by the Mine Action sector in the country.

Since the start of operations in #Ethiopia early June 2023, the UNMAS’ Explosive Ordnance Assessment teams based in Tigray and Afar conducted 166 Explosive Ordnance Assessments ( #EO A ), locating more than 761 devices in Northern Ethiopia.

Thanks to community members reporting on the presence of explosive ordnance ( #EO ) in parts of Maymegelta village in Eastern Tigray, UNMAS #Ethiopia Explosive Ordnance Assessment teams were able to mark and identify devices scattered in the farming area surrounding the village.
