Last week, students and staff experienced the Total Solar Eclipse together during the time of totality. This was a great example of making learning meaningful in real-life settings.

There is nothing like student artwork to brighten up a room! North Shore Academy Elementary students hung their paintings in the cafeteria. Several students participated in the art project alongside an art therapist. Way to go, students!

Last month, Social Emotional Learning teams from North Shore SD 112 and Aptakisic-Tripp D102 wrapped up Year 2 of the SEL Learners and Leaders Series. They reflected on the two-year journey and how they have implemented SEL in their district.

Nothing beats time together with your team! Our technology team recently used their Elevating Educators grant to provide lunch for the district office. With busy schedules, it isn’t often the team sits together. What a treat!

Our Service Learning students work together to learn about and support local organizations and their missions. Students recently enjoyed their “Leaving to Learn” time together at the Northern IL Food Bank!

TrueNorth Occupational Therapists and Physical Therapists enjoyed team bonding time together while painting pottery after work! It is wonderful to see our team members enjoying their time together not only inside the classroom, but outside as well.

Happy Spring Break to our students and staff members! As a reminder, TrueNorth locations will be closed from March 25-29.

Thanks to an Elevating Educators grant, staff members established new Yoga and Zumba classes! It is a great way for our team to connect and enjoy quiet time before the busy day begins. It also supports social emotional health which is important to positively support students.

One of our Transition students has not one, but two employment opportunities! He is currently training at Illinois Tool Works and has been employed at Nothing Bundt Cakes in Deerfield for more than a year. Keep up the great work and support those businesses who support our youth.

Chief Financial Officer Alyssa Hughes and Safety & Security Coordinator Demetrius Hall recently attended the Lake County School Safety Conference! They learned about physical safety, social media, and trauma-informed practices to support both students and staff.
