So important that kids can take a strategy like the Make 10 addition strategy and apply it more generally. What's 57+8? 57 + (3+5) = 65. What's 97+8? 97 + (3+5) = 105. What's 70+80? 70 + (30+50) = 150. Thinking in groups of 10 is the key to great computational skills!
