Many have suggested interviews be added to Wanda Diamond League coverage, but each second is precious, & priority is to show competition. Language too is an issue; the DL pictures go to dozens of territories, & many won't be able to use interviews in English.

Agreed, tho I reckon the shoes are 75% of it. There are several now common-practice factors these last 10-15 yrs, which can mostly be covered by the phrase 'marginal gains', & some 'training methods' (double threshold, etc) have had a seismic effect. Few would dispute that.

I don't actually mention it often in relation to specific performances, but here's a suggestion - just unfollow me. Then you can carry on living in the world where truth is an inconvenience and nothing earlier than say 5 years ago, really matters?

Slight over-reaction. Why make this personal? I thought that bitter-brigade had dried up 2y ago, as the mass of 'records' came pouring in, month after month, & even the haters had to agree that comparisons are meaningless - but clearly not. I love the sport & cherish its heritage

Not disputing that, & Parker Valby MAY be the best to compete in NCAA over 10,000m for MANY years, but the record was set 14y ago, & thanks to the tech-leap in footwear, we'll never know how good she is compared with more than say 6-7y ago. That heritage factor has been lost.

Clearly a brilliant run from a great athlete. But is it me, or are people pretending (Gorilla in the corner of the room analogy) that the shoes are not making 20+ seconds difference at 10,000m?

I'm even hearing that folk are staying in London while 'attending' the Games in Paris..! Seems incredible that any host city would allow this belief to develop, that essential cost of attendance - Tickets & Accommodation - are SO high, they exclude many would-be fans.

Now it's on our radars, it seems weird there's not been a European Running Championships European Athletics before now. Road Running has roughly a billion participants on the planet - more than any other activity apart from Walking? - & Road Racing has been HUGE for c.50 yrs....!!

Just wonderful to see. Chicago is possibly my favourite US city, and it's fascinating to see it buzzing almost a century ago, and to look out for anything recognisable.....

Inarguably fair.

One of the most bizarre decisions in all my yrs of involvement with the sport, the one to let that 100m final go; I'm sure there were fine reasons, but it was weird as heck to witness & to commentate on. I think Manchester deserves a couple of days of glorious sunshine this year.

Plenty of big names & great competition guaranteed at the Tom Jones Memorial. It's not unusual..............!

I can't wait to be part of EAA's commentary team for the 6-day European Champs in Rome (7-12 June) European Athletics Roma2024 European Athletics Championships which promises to be magical. A stunning stadium, great weather 🙏 & the drama with big names present, & when medals are at stake, cannot be overstated!

But then again, the ultimate silly look (for me) - I know from 'the streets' that many disagree - is shorts worn over tights......! Because, er....what exactly is the point of the shorts?
