Can you spare 2-3 minutes?

Please fill out this short survey from the The Northern Pilgrims Way who are seeking to employ a heritage ranger for their historic pilgrims Trail, and help promote the far north's many interesting ecclesiastical sites!

Sheesh, if ever there was a crappy broch - it's Stemster Broch!

Sadly, by the 1960's it had a great big silage pit dug into it. As you can imagine, silage pits are not conducive to 2,000 year old buildings, so it's not looking its best.

Still a broch though, innit.

In 2023, a search for the remains of a โ€œlostโ€ tower led to the discovery of a complex multi-period building once used by the people of Caithness ๐Ÿ”

From 14 April, join the team near Thrumster as they continue their investigation (no experience required): digitscotland.com/events/thrumstโ€ฆ

๐Ÿ˜” DISAPPOINTING FUNDING NEWS ๐Ÿ˜”

In 2023 we embarked on our biggest project to date with an extensive trial trenching project.

Unfortunately, despite the immense fun we had making all those holes, we just didn't quite have the funding to backfill them.

OOPS SORRY ABOUT THAT

An exciting discovery from Scotland - this 1800-year-old slice of pizza was recently unearthed in the ruins of a broch. The dish was introduced to the region c. AD 83 by the Romans. Fragments of oil jars found nearby suggest that the Picts deep fried rather than baked their pizza

๐ŸŒพ Thatch so Fetch! ๐ŸŒพ

Great to see traditional being undertaken in , at Mary Ann's Cottage.

This is a skill most likely used by our broch-builders, 2,000 years ago.

You're seeing history 'being made' here!
