🧬 Preprint 🧬
Most mutations begin as a change in only one of the two DNA strands.

To see these single-strand precursors of mutations, we developed single-molecule sequencing that achieves single-molecule and *single-strand* fidelity.

Excited to share our new paper in Cell on spatial organization in glioblastoma authors.elsevier.com/c/1izT9L7PXqQI9. We combine spatial transcriptomics (Visium) and proteomics (CODEX) to reveal five-layer organization of cellular states and a role of hypoxia as tissue organizer. 1/

We are all walking mosaics of genetically distinct cells.

Every cell acquires around one mutation each division after fertilization, resulting in a vast amount of genetic diversity across all the cells in our bodies by the time we are born.

Our latest manuscript describes efforts to define endogenous T cell responses to the fusion driver characteristic of fibrolamellar carcinoma (FLC). Outcomes for FLC patients are poor, so new therapies are urgently needed. cell.com/cell-reports-m… 🧵(1/15)

Very excited to share our latest preprint on somatic mutations in the normal stomach. We found many surprises, incl. hypermutant glands, recurrent somatic trisomies and a unique landscape of driver mutations. Thread below! biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

How did we lose our tail? A simple question.. but it wasn't really asked before! We discovered a plausible scenario for the genetic mechanism that led to tail loss. Amazing that such a big change may have been caused by such a small genetic event. nature.com/articles/s4158… Bo Xia
