I’m not a “Toy Guy” but all these Mego Planet of the Apes figures were in a bag for $40 so I had to grab them.

On the cataloging truck today is the 2 volume set 'Premier et second thome des histoires tragiques,' published in 1568. The 19th-century crimson morocco binding by Chambolle-Duru is stunning! The supra-libros of Isidoro Fernandez are embossed in gold on the covers.

“…there could never be an end to the rescue of men from the rubble of their ideas.”

Playing catch-up here to say that I’ve been humbled by how good Riders in the Chariot is, though it has been no surprise. Patrick White is one of the pinnacles, I’m learning.

This is pure fun, a glorious too short countdown to the confluence of two key events, an astronomer’s probable loss of sight and a possibly impending eclipse. It’s an absurd, heavenly romp of run-on sentences where Bernhard presides like the apogee he is. You’ll fly through it.

Whoever on here suggested keeping this gem on the bedside table, thank you. It’s been a lovely companion to many wake-ups and turning-ins. NYRB Classics

Years ago, when I learned that the original lightsabers were such a simple effect, I wrapped some Scotchlite retroreflective tape around a stick and had someone take a Polaroid photo. The camera flash made the tape glow brightly. Voila!, my own lightsaber. Happy Star Wars Day!
