These adorable dormice were found during our rangers' survey at Black Rock in Cheddar 😍

During the winter our team have been thinning the old hazel coppice to allow more light in and open up the woodland corridor. This increases the linear scrub, aiding dormice movement.

Meet Betsy Bee at Fyne Court this half-term and explore the woodland with her to find all the colours of spring 🌼

To celebrate #NNRWeek here's some unique footage captured for a survey last month at Cheddar Gorge, part of the Mendip Hills National Nature Reserve 🌳

The purpose of the survey was to gather accurate data about the wildlife who call the gorge home 🐐

During the past year, the Blossom Project at Glastonbury Tor has planted an acre of new orchard and laid 300 metres of hedging.

New ‘Space for Nature’ zones have also been installed where we will encourage a diverse array of plants to grow and create thriving habitats 🙌

Sunnier days mean that we begin to hear the hum and buzz of insects as they emerge after the winter.

Our ranger Rob on the Holnicote Estate spotted this broad-bodied chaser dragonfly at Blackwood Wood yesterday.

What do bluebells have to do with beavers?

Our enclosure on the Holnicote Estate was once a dense woodland but after a few years of our beavers working away, they have created glades and open patches. Light can now come through, helping wildflowers like bluebells to flourish.

Tonight Wellington Monument will be lit up green in support of Samaritans who are the official charity of tomorrow’s London Marathon 💚

Earlier this week volunteers from the Somerset and Taunton branch visited the monument and were shown around by some of our team.

We’re looking for volunteers to help us on the Holnicote Estate as we restore the walled garden and develop our tree nursery.

It’s a great opportunity to be involved in an exciting project which will have a lasting impact on our nature conservation work.
