Crews worked with BART’s fiber contractors to successfully splice BART’s 48-strand fiber optic cable to redundantly located Commercial 288-strand fiber optic cable allowing for service to resume at 11:10am.

This solution will remain in place long term.

Following up as promised to report out on the cause of Fridays service disruption.

It was a damaged fiber optic cable. Crews located it just north of the MacArthur station heading towards the Richmond direction. It impacted all communication necessary to run service. 1/2

Because of ongoing rebuilding work between Union City and Warm Springs/South Fremont tonight, the last two evening trips from Berryessa/North San Jose normally scheduled for 11:36 and 11:49pm will be cancelled. Riders should instead use the train that departs at 11:26pm.

BART is recovering from an earlier problem. There is a 10-minute delay on the San Francisco Line in the Antioch, Richmond directions due to police activity at Colma Station. Trains are making normal stops.
