Digging the Channel Tunnel started in Glasgow, with the first of 11 huge tunnel boring machines manufactured by Howden at their works in Scotland Street in 1987.

It's just a pity that in the last 30 years, the vision of 'Regional Eurostar' to Glasgow Central hasn't been realised

Hace 30 años se inauguró el túnel que une Gran Bretaña con Francia. Las excavaciones iniciaron en 1987 con maquinaria manufacturada en Glasgow.

I worked at Howden as my first engineering job, 20 years after they built the TBM, but they were still pretty proud of it.

Today a ceasefire has been accepted by Hamas. Any move now by Israel into Rafah is a repudiation of international efforts to complete a ceasefire

The ceasefire, no offensive on Rafah, the ramping of aid and release of hostages is the outcome that is needed

Nothing else will do

Revitalising listed buildings is challenging, but the outcome is far more satisfying than merely demolishing it. Spotted the new signage carved for The Hotel at Wellington St. It's more attractive and unique to the hotel. Love it 💚🙌🏽

The way Hall’s supposed surge was ‘reported’ on here and elsewhere shows a major (and growing) problem in political reporting

Someone spreading a baseless rumour is not really a source. Two people repeating a rumour are not ‘two sources’

Hall-style nonsense framed a lot of the…

I’ve probably walked past the old school building in the Gorbals every other day for 6 years but only stopped to notice the Let Glasgow Flourish decoration today.

I entered the labour market in 2008. It’s bonkers that average earnings are lower today than they were then

Had pre-crisis trends continued, today the typical full-time worker in Scotland would be earning £15,000 *more* a year

The public consultation event on Golfhill School that was scheduled for this afternoon at 5pm in Whitehill Secondary School has been postponed due to the bank holiday.

Apparently, there was a mix-up about the booking of the venue.

I'll update again once a new date is confirmed.

Scotland’s wind resources aren’t delivering the revenues or jobs for Scots that we were promised. It’s reminiscent of North Sea oil, with multinationals once again enjoying a bonanza, including companies owned by foreign governments.

Important reporting by Martin Williams.

I have been working to save the historic Golfhill School in Dennistoun for several years.

A revised plan for housing is now being proposed, which will retain the listed façade of the 122-year-old building.

Go along to the public consultation on Monday afternoon to find out more
