Today just presented a mission.

It looks as if I will have to leave the studio and visit my old hometown.

Yesterday was very warm, and it was a nice evening.

I must go, soon, before the sun comes to town.

But I’ll be back, later tonight.

For now, I’ll have to find cover in shadows.

After twilight, I went to the ocean to watch the moon rise.

The picture taken at the beach were not as good as this brief video, taken at a lake, a few blocks West of the ocean.

The reflection of the moon in the water is the lake’s art.

Dawn is breaking, and the skies have cleared up.

I’ll have to go, soon, in order to avoid the daylight.

But I’ll be back, after sundown.

Perhaps today will shake loose this cold snap.

Now the dandelions have gone to seed.

It’s a nearly full waxing moon.

The clouds are forecast to dissipate by dawn, leaving a clear sky. Also the temperature is supposed to begin increasing today.

After recording, today, I decided to relax for the rest of the night.

I’m doing my best to not overdo it.

I cannot hear anything but ocean waves.

In a other few weeks, this island will resemble Bedlam as painted by Bosch.

That is when the tourist season begins. ww

“The Book of Human Insects” by Osamu Tezuka

Two books and two manga. I had not seen this Tezuka book before!

Tonight’s recommendation is Herman Melville’s “Moby Dick.”

The novel’s Captain Ahab might be my favorite US literary character.

He is consumed by a vengeance that ultimately leads to catastrophic disintegration.

This novel also taught me a lot about whales.

Another book I enjoyed is “Junky” by William S. Burroughs. When I was 13, I began reading works from the 1950s Beat Generation.

Jack Kerouac might have been the archetypal Beat, but my favorite author of that group is Burroughs.

“Junky” is the safest introduction to his work.
