The Ukrainian power system received a new strong connection with Europe as Ukrenergo together with Polish transmission system operator PSE modernized a powerful electricity transmission line between Poland and Ukraine.

Ukrenergo and ENTSO-E increased the technical capacity for importing electricity into Ukraine. Now, it will be possible to import up to 1,050 MW of power capacity from the Continental Europe into the Ukraine/Moldova block, which is by 200 MW more than previously agreed.

These topics were discussed by the CEO of Ukrenergo Volodymyr Kudrytskyi with colleagues–heads of TSOs of Europe during the ENTSO-E Assembly meeting.

Ukraine has the opportunity to receive technical assistance with electricity, if necessary, not only from our neighbours but also from other EU countries. Ukrenergo has signed the corresponding agreement on multilateral emergency assistance with 15 system operators of the ENTSO-E

Ukrenergo and ENTSO-E have expanded their technical capabilities for electricity trading. In particular, the technical capability of importing electricity from the Continental European zone to Ukraine and Moldova has increased from 700 to 850 MW at any time of the day.

On 16 March 2022, in the midst of a full-scale russian invasion of Ukraine, Ukrenergo and ENTSO-E interconnected the Ukrainian and European power systems.
