A significant portion of the Turkish population supports him.The new Taliban in Afghanistan is muslim brotherhood as opposed to the old Taliban which was Salafi associated with Arabia.The new Taliban is part of a larger & more sophisticated Jihadi movement with offices in Qatar

Erdogan aspires to rebuild the Ottoman Caliphate & since October 7th has made a series of aggressive speeches in which, as head of state he is proclaiming Jihad against Israel, and the reconquest of Jerusalem under Turkish rule.

In Turkey he is the leader of 'AK' an Islamists party who over the years has reformed the secularism of Ataturk, & tilted the apparatus of government, the parliament, the interpretation of laws & the leadership of the army in the direction of Islamism.

The brotherhood lives and breathes through Erdogan the leader of Turkey. He is a member. He effectively leads the U.S branch of the Brotherhood and meets the local leaders with great fanfare when he comes over.

But in Egypt the Moderate Muslims, the coptic christians ( 8 million of them) & the seculars support the army who keeps the brotherhood down. The muslim brotherhood competes with the government for control of Egypt & wishes to establish a Caliphate.
