The youth are a vulnerable group and thus a portion of the Community Camera Trap benefits in Tanzania go directly to them. The youth in the village of Makifu are excited to receive new jerseys and a football that will hopefully keep them focused on sport instead of poaching!

Bushpigs are a nuisance for farmers and an important prey species for carnivores. Through the CCT+ programme those living with wildlife such as bushpigs receive tangible benefits from the presence of wildlife. This image isfrom the community of Mtanza-Msona, Tanzania.

Our joint CEOs Dr. Amy Dickman and Dr. Alayne Cotterill recently spent four days with the Pride Lion Conservation Alliance, brainstorming how they can use their collective experience to best support others working in the conservation field.

This month our team in Tanzania delivered a training workshop on how to estimate large carnivore population density. The workshop was attended by 18 TAWIRI research officers and assistants and will contribute to increased capacity to conduct these surveys nationwide.

We visited Land Conservation Mentor's Organization (LCMO) as part of our ongoing partnership. It was awesome to see their implementation of predator proof wire livestock enclosures as well as to meet some of their community based team active in conflict mitigation.

Along with the Southern Tanzania Elephant Programme, we are monitoring the Kilombero Elephant Corridor in southern Tanzania. This corridor provides important connectivity for wildlife and so far we’ve detected 19 different mammal species including these charismatic otters!

Our Lion Landscape's joint CEO Amy Dickman is an expert advisor to the Earthshot Prize & was honoured to be at a Blavatnik School of Government dinner celebrating the Prize, with inspirational leaders such as the former Prime Minister of New Zealand Jacinda Ardern.

Last month the team in Tanzania welcomed team members from our site in Kenya. Although the challenges in the landscapes can differ many of our programmes are implemented across both landscapes and thus learning and sharing successes and challenges was beneficial for everyone.

Like this baby baboon, lets ride into the weekend! These four baboons net the Tanzanian village of Mtanza-Msona 4,500 total points as part of the Community Camera Trapping + programme that links presence of wildlife to tangible benefits at both the household and village level.

In March we attended the Spatial Monitoring and Reporting Tool (SMART) Global Congress held in Windhoek, Namibia and met with SMART users from around the globe. We enjoyed sharing our work and meeting with other conservation organizations around the globe.

Last month we were ecstatic to be part of more than 50 representatives from Tusk-supported projects across 16 African countries joining together in Rwanda for the fourth Tusk Conservation Symposium. What an incredible inspiration for our team!

Our field teams in Rufiji , Tanzania and Laikipa, Kenya, were thrilled to welcome IUCN Save Our Species to visit our field sites. Over the course of two weeks we showcased our work including a visit to a Community Camera Trap and a school film showing in Laikipa.

We recently organised a special Sukuma dance for the Sukuma people in Selous-Nyerere landscape. This provided us with a valuable opportunity to engage with the locals and inform them about the importance and benefits of community-led conservation efforts.

Last year, our ecological team captured interesting carnivore sightings while setting up camera traps and guide sightings programme in Nyerere NP. Among the captivating photos is this leopard resting on a tree. These images helps in identification of individual species.

Check out these lions we encountered in Sosian, Laikipia, Laikipia, while searching for a particular lioness to collar. This coalition of two male lions, attracted to the bait set for the lioness, displayed a regal stature and had powerful, well-defined physiques.
