On This Day 1987
A horrible night in Birmingham!
Our first defeat in a Play-Off Final & for me the worst.
We were so close to glory after John Sheridan’s fantastic free-kick, only to succumb to Charlton’s Peter Shirtliff with a late double.
It took a long time to recover.

On This Day 1975
It Still Hurts 49 Years Later!
A stonewall penalty, Peter Lorimer’s famous strike, Beckenbauer’s arm and a corrupt official.
Leeds United should have been crowned Champions Of Europe.

On This Day 1989
A sad day for Leeds United with the passing of the great Don Revie.
The man who put our club on the footballing map & give us a team to be proud of and that was feared across Europe.
Today we are at Wembley in the play off final.
Let’s do it for Don.

It’s FA Cup Final day tomorrow with hardly any build up on the BBC & ITV.
Back in the 1972 when the competition actually meant something, there was fantastic build up on both channels.
Early morning starts, plenty of entertainment before the big game.
It was like Christmas Day!

Next Sunday when Leeds United walk out at Wembley, it will be 35 years to the day that the great Don Revie died.
If we show the fighting spirit that Don Revie’s great side had next Sunday we’ll be alright.
Keep Fighting!

A sad night for Leeds United at The Hawthorns on and off the pitch.
Relegation all but confirmed, the fans rioted, but manager Allan Clarke didn’t see anything!
After a 2-0 defeat to WBA, relegation was confirmed two days later, when Stoke City beat WBA.

On This Day 1973
We Never Stood A Chance!
A depleted Leeds United are cheated out of the Cup Winners Cup Final by referee Christos Michas, who had been bribed by AC Milan.
Blatant penalties turned down and Norman Hunter was sent off in the 1-0 defeat.

On This Day 1982
One of the great atmospheres at Elland Road with only 19,000 in the ground, limbs all over the place after two goals in a minute from Gary Hamson & Kevin Hird give Leeds United a 2-1 victory over Brighton.
We thought we were safe from relegation….but!
