The next time someone tries to tell me fighting 'is part of the game', I'm going to bring this up. It's so not 'part of the game' that they're allowing a goddam camera person out there to chronicle it, which, in and of itself is all kinds of ridiculous.

My latest for THN. Could Jessica Campbell become the first woman to become a full-time head coach in men's pro hockey history?

The $5,000 fine to Jacob Trouba is actually quite punitive when you think about it. NHL players aren't paid during the playoffs and, like, where's he going to find that kind of money? Outstanding work, Violent Gentleman.

Ladies and gentlemen, your 2023-24 Mark Messier Leadership Award winner showing lots of leadership. Leading with your elbow is leadership, right?

David Pastrnak just got drilled with a hard, clean hit and nobody on the Czech team felt compelled to fight the guy who hit him. Those gutless, code-ignorant cowards.

I realize the Oilers have made strides defensively, but I’ve got to think they’d be OK turning this into a track meet.

I really like almost everything the PWHL has done this season, but I can't stand the rule where the first-place team 'gets' to choose its first-round opponent. That team doesn't 'get to choose', it's 'forced to choose' and puts it in an untenable situation.

People bet really money on these games, with the NHL's blessing. Hockey people's livelihoods are profoundly affected by these calls. This is an abomination.

Because somebody in the Situation Room hit an odd number on the dart board and decided on goalie interference, we're treated to another 18-minute intermission of talking heads, people dreaming about owning Toyotas and co-workers racing to Tims to get shitty flatbread pizza.

Let's see what whether the dart the guys throw at the board in these situations will result in a goal (even number) or non-goal (odd number).

Let's all weigh in, knowing full well that nobody knows what actually constitutes goaltender interference. But to me, that was not goaltender interference.

Let's hope the Memorial Cup is entertaining, because for the most part, the playoffs weren't. Of the 45 post-season series in the OHL, QMJHL and WHL this spring, 22 of them were sweeps, including all three league finals. My latest for THN. thehockeynews.com/news/does-the-…
