It’s spring! So happy to be back at the Davisville Village farmers market!

I appreciated going for a walk with some inspiring leaders in the Lawrence Heights community this morning to learn more about the critical work they do, the challenges they face & their vision for an inclusive, safe, affordable, healthful and beautifully planned neighborhood.

Happy Mother’s Day. My mom, Elaine Ruth Mitchell, was a teacher, writer and most extraordinary friend. Her laugh filled a room and she was the most interesting talker, and caring listener, I’ve ever known. She passed away in 2015, but her memory and love is still very much alive.

Listening to the chorus of Spring peepers while paddling under the aurora borealis. Absolutely magical.

It was an honor to stand with our city’s Jewish community to commemorate Yom HaShoah (Holocaust Remembrance Day) at Beth Emeth Bais Yehuda Synagogue in North York tonight. This photo is of 102 year-old Survivor, Eddie Fisch lighting a candle with his family. We must never forget.

I visited with Walied Khogali Ali and local residents in Regent Park today. We had a wide-ranging and thoughtful conversation about community health and the critical need for more affordable housing. We then joined Walied for his informative and inspiring Jane’s Walk.

I enjoyed a Jane’s Walk with the Scarborough Junction Community today along the proposed West Scarborough Rail Trail. The trail would follow the hydro corridor & abandoned rail lines- connecting neighborhoods, TTC and green spaces between the Meadoway and Taylor Massey Creek.

Too often unsaid & misunderstood, there are men in our city who are victims of domestic violence and need a safe & caring place to go. I was happy to attend the 3rd anniversary of the Toronto Family Shelter for Fathers & Children in Humber River-Black Creek to support their work.
