We so have to turn off the tap and reduce primary production, for our health, the biosphere and our climate (production alone causes 5.3% of annual CO2 emissions)!

The chalk aquifer being depleted is a water source for a huge swathe of the country, containing some of our most populous areas, & feeds many chalk streams. Draining it dry is not a viable option for people or wildlife.
