More than 650K people fled war-torn #Sudan for South Sudan, and I witnessed yet again new arrivals to Malakal this morning.

They faced a range of risks along the way. Many turn to the Red Cross bc they lost contact w/family. I met a father coming from #Omdurman who made the journey with a bullet wound to the leg.

We keep engaging weapon bearers to protect people & not attack innocent civilians!

Our #Africa Regional Director for #Africa , @pyoussefICRC, is visiting #SouthSudan this week to engage with various stakeholders including those affected by conflict, our partners, the local authorities, and our teams across the country. #SSoT

It would not have been possible for us to reach the vulnerable people affected by conflict and armed violence in #SouthSudan without the support of the South Sudan Red Cross as a partner.

Their network of volunteers from across the country has been key in facilitating this access. #SSoT

As part of our efforts to promote respect for International Humanitarian Law #IHL , we recently conducted a session in Bereka, Central Equatoria State, #SouthSudan , to foster peaceful coexistence between weapon bearers and conflict-affected civilians.

Access to clean water has become a challenge for people in Boro Medina, Western Bahr El Ghazal State due to the growing numbers of refugees and returnees fleeing the conflict in #Sudan into #SouthSudan .

We recently repaired eight hand pumps to provide water to over 8,000 people.
