Better rail connectivity between Lancashire and Mereyside would be a massive boost to local businesses, families and the 'education triangle'

Wow, they turned my 293 page book into a 7 minute video! This is a really compelling telling of how the phone-based childhood replaced the play-based childhood, and what we must do now. Thanks Kite & Key Media!

I've just uploaded 10 hours of Y11 lit & lang revision sheets to my resources page here: funkypedagogy.com/resources/
I print these as A3 sheets - one side of Literature and one side of Language. Each side has 30 minutes of specific timed activities. Feel free to use/adapt/ignore.

The anticipation of success (aka 'expectancy') is vital for student motivation.

BUT it's easier to destroy than develop.

Really interested in hearing from people working in schools that have totally banned phones. As in locked away at beginning of day, returned at the end - not 'see it, take it' policies. How did school launch it? What was initial reaction How well is it working? DMs open.

I've marked 10+ rounds of GCSE English Lit. Here's what I've learnt, and other examiners welcome to weigh in.

Most students know quotes. It isn't quotes that are the problem. The main issue is concepts. It's having something interesting to say about the texts. Arguments. Ideas.

Last year we trailed the faster read approach to reading with our y7 classes and read two novels back to back in the autumn term. Malamander and tyger. We didn't see the results we wanted in terms of data but staff and students voice led us to believe it was worthwhile doing. 👇

Probably one of the most important and useful ways I've changed how I teach authorial intention.

It has made a big difference to the quality of student thinking and analysis.
