Great to see one of our literary stars being recognised in Germany.

Ireland and Poland have long been friends.

On this day, we became family.

On May 1 2004, the 🇨🇿 joined the 🇪🇺 together with 9 other countries. To mark the occasion, the 🇮🇪 government commissioned Seamus Heaney to write a poem, Beacons at Bealtaine, which has now been translated into Czech for the 20th anniversary.

I was actually at the day of welcomes in Farmleigh. It was a great day for Ireland and Europe.
