I did 110 open cholecystectomies as an SHO including bile duct explorations- in 1990, as Reg, the consultant introducing lap cholecystectomies said is was the reserve of the SR - I did 6 as I felt I had a good foundation 🙏. Just saying 🙏🙏

Prof Shafi Ahmed PhD FRCS Thank you for speaking up. I am absolutely horrified - my husband was in hospital for a month after this op - it is a very serious operation and shouldn't be underestimated.

Prof Shafi Ahmed PhD FRCS How much power do patients have? Can I insist on a surgeon? Would that be guaranteed if I asked? Would it be documented? Would they agree to my face and once I'm under let the associate do it? Remember the surgeon who burnt his initials on patients livers? Where were his team?

We pts want ONLY trained *doctors* to deliver our healthcare.
