We've seen some large rainfall totals over the past couple of days, with over a month's worth of rain falling in places.

For example the average rainfall for May in Carlisle is around 55 mm.

A month’s worth of rain in the last 24 hours for a number of locations.

Expect more places to be added as the heavy rain moves slowly north.

A new attribution study has found human-induced climate change made the heavy storm downpours and total rainfall across the UK and Ireland between October 2023 and March 2024 more frequent and intense.
