Let's celebrate! Atlanta picked up 1.23' of rain today. That's the first time since the beginning of August that we've had more than an inch of rain in one day. I'll take it!

The line of showers and storms is getting a little better organized south of Atlanta with heavy rain and 40-50mph winds. Still monitoring it for additional wind gusts and any shear that could cause rotation. That risk is very low, though. Line is moving eastward.

Tuesday very well could be our wettest day in at least 3 months, with a solid 1-2' of rain forecast for north Georgia.

Mist and drizzle keeping the runways and taxiways rather wet at Hartsfield-Jackson airport. Visibility also reduced a bit, but no weather delays.

That system we've been tracking in the western Caribbean has better chances of becoming a named storm. Here's the latest track. Tropical storm watch in effect for Jamaica, Haiti, parts of Cuba, SE Bahamas and Turks and Caicos.

The showers over the weekend didn't do much to help the drought. The level 3 and 4 drought in far N Georgia is continuing to expand. We need rain!

Here is a slider comparison between where the worst of our drought is and where the highest total of rainfall is possible this next week. Unfortunately, it is likely the area in need of rain the most won’t see as much.
