Today marks the 200th Anniversary of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony.

First performed in Vienna, where the deaf German composer lived and worked for most of his life, it is arguably the greatest symphony ever and an experimental piece that is still challenging to play today.

St. Edmundsbury Cathedral is unusual in still being under construction throughout the C20th - with the tower, a chapel and cloisters the last to be added in the 2000’s. It’s simply stunning & has a special atmosphere. The design and craftsmanship are top notch! 🤩❤️

Our Lunchtime Recital Series returns in May with Charlotte Rowan, Violin (10 May), Christopher Huggins, Tenor (17 May) and Cathedral Consort (31 May). Fridays from 1.10 pm – 2.00 pm. Admission is free and there will be a retiring collection.
