Think of leadership capital as a bank account.

You can spend, save, or earn.

Every interaction you have has an impact on this account.

If you wanna win, you don’t focus on winning. You focus on the culture, people and processes that produce wins.

The best leaders are not driven by ego or personal agendas.

They are simply focused on the mission and how best to accomplish it.

No book can tell a leader exactly how to lead in every situation.

But while the specifics of any particular situation vary and characters differ, the principles remain the same and can be applied to overcome any leadership challenge.

Yes, life can be overwhelming.

That’s the way life works.

It is testing you.

I’ve never met a successful person with an easy life.

As a leader, it doesn't matter how well you feel like you have presented the information or communicated the plans.

If your team doesn't get it, you have not kept things simple and you have failed.

Be decisive when you need to be, but try not to make decisions until you have to.

Assess what is happening to the best of your ability with the information you have, then make smaller decisions with minimum commitment to move in the direction you suspect is the right one.

Just wanted this out there:

I am so proud of our students. People can say what they want about the next generation, but I am excited to see what they will do. We have great young women and young men at Farragut High School.
