Larissa Waters w' her no. 1 Budget demand: fully fund frontline family, domestic & sexual violence services. My wish too! & safe housing for women.

The women’s safety sector has called for $1bn pa to help those who need it. Labor’s funding isn't enough. The Budget must fix this.

I think neither the Senate nor the Australian people — and certainly the government — should be satisfied that we've got all of the facts on the table, and enough information to draw PwC Australia back into consulting. We are a long way from that.

If you haven't been following the consultancy scandal, start now.

It's a story about eroding public trust & public interest, misuse of money and a total lack of transparency about what is going on.

If a political party is serving the interests of a private firm, they are likely doing this at the expense of public interests.

Banning donations is how we reduce the undue influence of big firms on the political process and break the cycle of favours.

💥Hot fury on Adelaide streets this am, on Labor & gas: ‘I feel betrayed’. ‘They are in the pocket of gas cos’. ‘Why are they are doing this?’ ‘How can I keep my 2nd preference from them?’ ‘But we have enough gas!’ ‘Scientists say we are already past 1.5 degrees’. 💥

Labor mocks small modular nuclear reactors on the basis that they are expensive, slow and unproven….yet the Albanese Government trying to convince Australians that carbon capture and storage will work…hint: its expensive, slow and unproven

The Greens fought hard to win workers the right to disconnect because we want every worker to have a life outside of their job.

Everyone deserves to protect their mental health, improve their work-life balance & switch off when their scheduled hours are over.

Says it all really: people sleeping underneath the arches of the Reserve Bank this morning as I visit my old workplace before heading into an inquiry about ethics, governance and the regulation of the big end of town. Inequality stalks every city. It is on steroids in Sydney.

The Greens-led Senate Select Committee on Supermarket Prices report sends a clear message: we need to outlaw price gouging & introduce divestiture laws to encourage a fair & competitive market built for everyday consumers, not profit-driven retail giants.

The Treasury consultation paper aligns with the Green's push to constrain the powers of the Big 4.

We're fighting for comprehensive structural change that increases responsibility for firms and introduces greater tax & reporting transparency.

Yep. It’s all about priorities. Tax uni grads (who contribute to our future & face big intergenerational inequality) or tax fossil fuel profiteers (whose activities threaten our planet)? Tough choice.

Explain: why does the govt (thro PM&C’s NIAA) contract out core activities like strategic planning of Indigenous services? And why to a firm 49% owned by PwC, with Directors incl PwC partners? & how is such a firm ‘separate’ to PwC? So much to ponder…theklaxon.com.au/government-res…

Today we celebrate the dedication and fearlessness of journalists & whistleblowers in bringing truth to light.

They play a crucial role in holding power to account & without them, we risk losing robust research, accessible info & a free and open society.

BREAKING: The gov has an agreement with PwC to resume contracts as soon as December 2024.

It's premature to consider paying PwC after the firm's egregious betrayals of the Aus people and their gov.

Especially when the government hasn't done enough to address the misconduct.
