Found on the ground, Texas, April 2024. A minimum wage worth of pennies weighs about 4 pounds. Do you think someone living on minimum wage has the time, resources or knowledge to turn their coins into cash?

Found on the ground, Texas, April 2024. I do this as a hobby: I enjoy picking coins off the ground and recirculating them. I have relationships with banks that allow me to do that. I make a little money, but it's not close to $1 a day on average. It's sure not minimum wage.

Found on the ground, Texas, March 2024. So why is there so much change just sitting on the ground? Because the cost of storing and returning it is not worth it to the people who hang around street corners and convenience stores. Many of them don't even have bank accounts.

Found on the ground, New Mexico, March 2024. I took a 4-day road trip and found about $1 in change every day at gas stations, parking lots, parks, in the street. This was the only copper penny. It and all the nickels went into my copper hoard, the rest into a savings account.

Three high-quality numismatic specimens found in the same bank roll. Who wouldn't be proud to have these in their collection?

Check your references! One of my books said this was copper-plated steel. Coinflation and another book said pure bronze. Passed the magnet test and weighs the same as other post 1982 Maple Leaves, so I'm going with bronze.

1990D with a dent exactly matching the rim of another penny. I guess it could have been a mint error. More likely, the other penny was laying on top of it in a street or parking lot and they were just run over together.

I found wheat pennies from five decades in the same box. Lastly, a very worn and scratched 1917. They made almost 200 million of these; still pretty amazing to find in circulation after 107 years. That's it; there weren't any 1909s.
