We may not be talking enough about Tyrone Taylor, by the way. Through 15 games in a near-everyday role, Taylor is batting .325/.364/.450 with a home run, 10 RBI and a pair of stolen bases. He's also played all three outfield positions, affording Carlos Mendoza lineup flexibility.

The Mets just cracked this one wide open. Three innings after a two-run homer from Starling Marte, the Mets benefited from a bit of small ball when Tyrone Taylor singled home a pair.

The Mets are 'very optimistic' that Brett Baty (tight left hamstring) will avoid the IL. He came in today feeling better than last night. 'I think it just scared me,' Baty said, in part because he's hurt that hamstring before.

Baty should be back in the lineup within a few days.
