I wasn't a Superman fan back in 89 (though I really wish in retrospect that I had been) but I absolutely grabbed this issue from a spinner rack just based on how awesome the cover is

My new favorite thing is listening to podcast episodes that were recorded in January of 2020 with the hosts saying 'Well now that the holidays are over everything can finally get back to normal'

Superman overcomes the amnesia inflicted on him by the Eradicator, travels through time through a 'phantom zone' to undergo a ritual to fully embrace his Kryptonian heritage to enable him to force the Eradicator to stop terra forming the Earth

I like that this definitively answers the question of whether or not Superman knew Henshaw would survive the shattering in the finale of Reign of the Supermen

This is a perfect example of my thesis statement that while, yes, Post-Crisis Superman is susceptible to magic, he is less vulnerable to it than the average person

Action Comics #646 - August 1990

The little horn above Henshaw's cybernetic eyebrow was such a great touch. It's subtle enough that it was easily downplayed almost until the moment of his reveal, and once you see it you can't unsee it

It's interesting that both the 90s Eradicator and the Rebirth Eradicator both exist in DC continuity now, and both are largely presented as holograms

When the Reign of the Supermen was coming out, I was absolutely convinced up to a point that Clark's soul was somehow coexisting inside John Henry's body, and that would be instrumental in his return

Oh how I wish that this was an actual figure DC was putting out directly (kind of a DC Direct, if you will) and not just an awesome looking variant cover
