Think while you are drawing. A lot of beginners turn their brains off because drawing is “creative” . A large part of getting better is thinking about what you are doing, why, and understanding the subject.

Interesting to see that everybody feels differently about this question. If no one ever sees it, it’s all about my own interest in the process and subject. I’d probably just paint a million portraits and rarely anything else, but there’s no way I’d quit!
