Today we met local councillor and parliamentary candidate Prad Bains, to show him our Port of Southampton and to discuss the vital role it plays in supporting the local economy. It was a trip back to Prad’s roots, as his grandfather and great-grandfather worked at the docks.

What a week in Southampton! Here, we can see our Marine Pilots manoeuvring the Hapag Lloyd Manila Express out of the SCT 2/3 berth at DP World. The CMA CGM Louvre is comfortably behind at the SCT 5 berth, and Cunard's Queen Anne is alongside the Mayflower Cruise Terminal.

It was a pleasure to welcome cunardline's Queen Anne to the Port of Southampton last night.
A traditional Plaque and Key ceremony will take place on Friday, May 3, before the ship sets off on her maiden voyage to Lisbon.

For the first time, the Port of Southampton welcomes two of the World's largest container vessels simultaneously. The Port's Marine Pilots, working with the Svitzer Global Tug Crew, successfully manoeuvred two ultra-large container vessels into the terminal at DP World.

Unusually, today, we have two MSC Cruises vessels in the Port of Southampton. As we wave goodbye to MSC Euribia as she completes her Winter programme in the Port, we say hello to MSC Virtuosa as she starts her Summer programme operating from Southampton.

To reduce the number of incidents on the water, we have joined forces with Cowes Harbour Commission, KHM Portsmouth, Portsmouth International Port, Langstone Harbour, Yarmouth Harbour, Beaulieu River and Lymington Harbour to raise awareness of the importance of engine maintenance

Last week, as part of the Great British Spring Clean, a team of willing volunteers from ABP Southampton braved the elements to clean up Weston and Netley beachfront. The team spilt into groups to cover the widest area possible . All the items were bagged up and taken away.
